Stimulating your career

Chances are if you haven't won the lottery or inherited the family fortune, you go to work every day. Is it drudgery or do you spring out of bed each morning eager to go to work? Life is full of choices. You have the choice to change your career if it isn't your life path or to improve the job so that it is enjoyable. Feng Shui can help you accomplish that task.

Locate the Career gua of your home. For details on how to locate the career gua of your home or office, see http://www.fengshuiwithjoy.com/html%20pages/basicsbagua.html

The Career gua is related to the water element. Anything related to water is going to help to stimulate your career. This could include a fountain, birdbath (outside, please), aquarium, or even a vase of clear, clean water. Symbolic water works in the form of a picture of water, something with a wavy, curvy shape, or the color black, too.

Often times the career gua is by your front door, making this a very good place for the water fountain (make sure the flow goes into the home - not out the door), a vase of beautiful fresh flowers, or a black and white photograph of a flowing river.

Be careful not to place something in the Career gua that you never would want to do or that would symbolize a feeling that you don't want to have on the job. Types of images would include:

  1. A war scene. Do you want to be constantly battling others on the job?
  2. A juggler on a tight rope wire. Do you want to feel that you are constantly trying to keep all your balls in the air while trying to keep your balance?
  3. A clown. Are you or your contributions at work taken seriously?

These types of images could result in a tense working condition.

Make sure that your front door and all doors in the Career gua can open fully (nothing blocking them from behind) and that they don't stick or squeak. The objective is to allow all opportunities to flow into your life easily. Your responsibility then is to be open to all the opportunities that come your way. Keep in mind that it may not be exactly as you had envisioned it.

If you are looking for a new job, hang metal wind chimes by the front door to help call in the new job. This wind chime preferably has five or more hollow metal chimes. Beautifying your entrance in every way possible will also invite all good career opportunities into your life. After you've enhanced the entrance inside and out, make sure that you use this door every day - even if it's just to get the mail or water those flowers you planted.

If you would like more assistance with making your career goals a reality, contact me for a personal Feng Shui consultation. I'd love to see you achieve your dreams.

Wishing you abundant happiness,

Joy

Feng Shui 2004 Parade Home

The 2004 Madison Area Builders Association Parade of Homes finished up on Sunday, June 27. I hope many of you had a chance to visit the Feng Shui Parade home in the Bergamont subdivision in Oregon. During the Parade hours, we had representatives from the Wisconsin Feng Shui Guild at the home to help answer parade-goers' questions about the home. Some of the many comments we heard from people who visited the site included:

  • "It is my favorite home."
  • "Definitely the best house in the parade."
  • "This home feels so calm." "...light and airy." "...cheery."
  • "I feel so comfortable in this home. I wouldn't change a thing."

I enjoyed my conversations with so many of you. If anyone has a question about the home that you didn't get answered during the parade, please feel free to contact me.

Testimonials

After a Feng Shui consultation with Joy, I quickly outgrew my first store in Verona and asked her back when I was moving into my current location. Joy recommended a number of changes to the new store design including turning my fountain so the flow would be directed into the store in order to bring in more customers, a crystal over the cash register to generate more sales, enlarging my office where I meet with clients, moving the waiting room area to a more beneficial place, and general tips. I was thrilled with the results I achieved. My sales went up 20% and my client list went up 30%. I  noticed that my ideal clients were attracted to the store too -- people who want to improve their health and believe in Applied Kinesiology. Everyone that comes into the store says they don't want to leave. They love it here. My employees enjoy the working environment, have more energy, and are in good spirits even at the end of a long day too.

Joy worked with me on the blueprint plans for my new home. She assisted me with the layout, door placements, landscaping, and general Feng Shui tips to help me create the home of my dreams. The final design is wonderful. We now live in a Feng Shui-designed home that is peaceful and uncluttered.  The positive Ch'i flowing in and around our home brings a smile to my face everyday. Thank you, Joy!       Jackie, Phoenix, AZ

Feng Shui consultations:

When I do a personal Feng Shui consultation (whether for a home or business), it is geared to your particular circumstances. A consultation can help you recognize energy blockers and architectural challenges that your building faces both within and on the exterior. I pay particular attention to areas of concern to you to see what may be causing the blockages and what can be added to enhance this area of your life. For a quick jumpstart on creating the life that you desire, contact me to find out about a personal Feng Shui consultation.

Joy Notes Q&A

Joy,

I just moved into my first three-bedroom home. I've lived in small apartments up until now. Boxed up in storage were gifts that I had received and some family heirlooms that I inherited. None of them go with my decor. I don't have a lot of sentimental value attached to any of them except for fond memories of the people who gave them to me or who I inherited them from. Since I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, where would be the best place to display these items now that I have the space to do so?

Jennifer, Indianapolis, IN

Jennifer,

This is a classical example of "Live with what you love". If you don't love it, it's clutter. Don't let a guilt trip keep you from having the life you desire, in a home that fits you. On the subject of heirlooms, if it doesn't fit your decor or you don't have the space for it, then find out if someone else in the family would love and appreciate it more than you. If there isn't anyone, check with the local museum or charities. Honor yourself by only surrounding yourself with things that you love.

I know that gifts can be even harder. The gift-giver is still alive and would love to see their gift displayed prominently in your home. This can lead to a guilt trip, which is an energy drainer for you. Be true to yourself and give or donate the gift to someone who will appreciate it. It's also a good idea to let people know that you appreciate their gift, but be clear about the types of things you need or love. A photo of the gift is a nice keepsake showing the gift-giver's thoughtfulness (and it takes up a lot less space).

In the same vein, be clear with people that you give gifts to that they are free to do with them as they please too. You don't want to clutter up someone else's life and home or send them on guilt trips either.
